Nat Morris Thanks Everyone

This past weekend was one for the books and first and foremost I want to start off thanking God for the wonderful weather he blessed us with on both Friday and Saturday.

Next, I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to every single person who contributed in helping to make this weekend as memorable as it is. “The Scene” along with Nat Morris and friends could not have been possible without any of you.

A special thank you to Annmarie Borucki and DLECTRICITY, for believing in our vision still and giving us a space to relive “The Scene.”

To DLECTRICITY and its support staff, Lucretia Sain, who coordinated the dance floor and she’s so good that I think she may even know who taught elvis to dance. Sundiata Mausi, our stage manager, Peter Kyte, who produced and designed the set and the entire staff and crew at Mercury Sounds and Lights—THANK YOU!

To my wife, Joan and my daughter Natasha, I love you both so much. Thank you for always believing and supporting me!

My hosts, Chris Campbell of WDET FM Radio, and LaWanda Gray-Anner, you guys rocked those mics like never before. THANK YOU SO MUCH

To RJ Watkins and the staff of WHPR TV live—I am proud of you and I love you. Thank you for just being you.

Fast Freddy, you still got it man. Thank you for being with us to recreate history.

The four men who rocked the music all night, D.J. Ron OJ, D.J. David “Hump the Grinder” Humphries, D.J. Dion Norman and Detroit’s own, Gary Chandler, I would have thought we were back at the original set the way y’all were spinning. Thank you so much, the music was incredible.

Cameraman DJ Willie Cool, Wally Harrison, Diane Rodgers, George Abernathy, Amir Abernathy (Triple A), Tina Nelson, Sheila Spencer, Angie Linder and Tom Linder–my personal crew–thank you for all of your support and patience. You guys really were my glue.

The funders who makes DTELECRICITY possible: DTE Energy Foundation, William Davidson Foundation, Midtown Detroit, Inc., Knight Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, Detroit Institute of Arts, Rocket Community Fund, Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs | National Endowment for the Arts, MI Humanities, Downtown Detroit Partnership, Shinola Detroit, Farbman Group, Emily Camiener and Marc Schwartz, Lisa Applebaum, FOX 2 Detroit and WDET 101.9 FM, thank you for all you do.

Detroit Free Press, Neighborhood and Communities Reporter, Jasmin Barmore and Ryan Garza, Free Press photographer, our story was history, but you two made sure it stays in history. Thank you for the awesome coverage.

And last but not least, you Detroit. Thank you to all The Scene and New Dance Show dancers and Detroiters who showed up and showed out, live streamed the party, or reposted the event. Without you none of this would be possible. So, thank you! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
